This year’s exhibitor is Israeli artist and designer Ron Gilad, nominated “Designer of the Year 2013” by the prestigious magazines Wallpaper and Elle Decor. For the 2013 Salone Ron Gilad presents a new item of furniture that enriches the Grado° 45˚ collection. Vetrina: a glass cabinet to contain ornaments and books. The project is an extension of the key concept of the collection. A geometrical rotation of the shelves that leads to corners, which are rounded off to 45°, solved thanks to a metal joint and aluminium sections, coated with quality or lacquered essences in the primary colours of yellow, red and blue. The result is surprising: a see-through solid that invites you to look at what it contains. “My partnership with Molteni&C”, says Ron Gilad, “has been very interesting because it has allowed me, for the first time, to work with an industrial approach. I initially researched the history of the brand and its values and then thought how best to exalt them. I concentrated on the basic forms and manipulated them, both conceptually and in practice. I managed by using the essential, to exalt the concept of functionality”. Ron Gilad’s Collezione Grado° – small and big tables, mirrors, console tables – is currently featured in the windows of the Ferragamo boutiques at numbers 3 and 22/4 of Via Montenapoleone, along with the creations of Salvatore Ferragamo. A symbol of style with a contemporary allure, the Lock Story on this occasion presents two models of Women’s bags specially designed for this event that have already become icons of the Maison: Aileen and Marisol. Produced to be set alongside Ron Gilad’s designs, they are exclusive models with sophisticated lines and modern cuts, fine leather and jewel clasps.
