Quake in Power 10
10 tables, 10 interpretations, 10 visions that play with the number 10 and its multiplications. In power 10 is this and a whole lot more. Arik Levy has fun interpreting the Quake table, designed for Molteni&C: cut into 10 pieces, lit by 10 light bulbs, with 10,000 hammered into it, painted in 10 different colours, with a jacket of 10,000 staples or pierced 100 arrows, covered by 100 metres of electric cables. Maybe it borrows from Charles and Ray Eames’s film Powers of Ten, an adventure in magnitudes, from the infinitesimal to infinity. Maybe he is thinking ironically about Duchamp’s ready made pieces. He experiments freely with the power of a table based on the search for shapes and transparencies, made with different materials: steel, wood, glass or stone. A traveling exhibition took "In power 10” to the flagship store in Paris for the tenth anniversary of the Designer’s Days, to the new store in Miami on the occasion of Art Basel Miami Beach and to Stockholm, to the NKl department store, for the design week.
